Mornings

Ok, keeping up with my goal to blog every day, here's what we did today.  First of all, there is nothing better in the world than waking up in my bed with both of my boys next to me.  Lately, Wyatt has been coming into bed when Shane leaves for work in the morning, and then I usually pull Max into bed with us around 7am.  They are both such mommies boys and I love spending that morning time with both of them.  I feel so bonded with both of them, and it's hard to look at them and not feel so much love for both of them, even if I didn't get any sleep the night before.

As for the rest of the day, my Grandpa Ted came over and we all went out to lunch and then took the boys to the playground to play.  Then we came home and the boys both went down for a nap, and I got some time to have a heart-to-heart talk with my Grandpa, which was really nice.  My mom brought over pizza on her way home from work, and then Grandpa left with her.

It was also Shane and I's 2 year wedding anniversary, but since we are currently broke and since my grandpa was in town, we have decided to celebrate it this weekend.  My lovely hubby did bring me home some beautiful flowers and a pepsi (he knows me too well).   I love you, honey!!

My newest goal

So I started doing this blog as more of a journal for me to look back on and remember things, and I've been really bad about keeping up on it.  So my new goal is to atleast blog something little about my day every night.  I think it will be really cool to look back in a couple of months and read through what happened.  Anyways, that's my new goal.

4th of July

The 4th of July out in Corbett was a blast.  It's a tradition of ours to go up to Corbett Highschool every year and watch their big fireworks show, which I swear gets better every year.  So we packed up the van with all of our stuff and my entire family, mom, dad, sister and her boyfriend, and then my little family.  We set up camp, got a perfect spot facing the fireworks, and then just hung out and waited for it to get dark.

Max was really good the whole time.  He loves being outside, I think it really helps his colic.  He fell asleep on me at first and then woke up a little later all alert and smiling at everybody.

I got to spend some time with just Wyatt, which I miss doing.  He is still my little boy, and I can't believe how much he is growing and changing.  He is definitely going through his terrible two's right now, which has been difficult with a new baby that is colicky, but he has his good moments still.  He also loves being outside and just being able to run and be a little boy.
My Daddy and Mommy
The whole Mckenzie crew
My sister, Carly and her boyfriend, David

Wyatt right before the fireworks started, which he loved!

Almost the whole crew, minus myself who, as usual, was taking the picture, and Wyatt who was too busy playing

Haynie, Whitey and Baby Mac

So Friday was the observed holiday for the 4th of July, so everyone was off work for the day.  I took Wyatt's little friend, Hayden, whom he calls Haynie, up to my parents house so they could play in the water.  Wyatt always has lots of fun playing outside at Grama and Papa's house.  We brought our water table up there again, and even Max (baby mac is what Wyatt and Hayden call him) joined in the fun.  The water in the water table warmed up from the sun, so i put a little swim diaper on Max and set him in the water.  He actually seemed to enjoy it, until Wyatt and Hayden tried to get in with him.

Max likes it up at my parents house too, because he loves being outside and just looking around and taking everything in.  I really, really wish we had a backyard!

Hayden and Wyatt are soo cute together.  They play fairly nice together, although I did catch Wyatt trying to boss her around alittle because he thinks he is so much older.  And later in the day, Hayden must have been sick of him being bossy, because she bit him!   All's fair in love and war tho right?

Hayden has got to be one of the cutest little girls I've ever seen.  And she looked very festive in her red, white and blue swimsuit.

At the River with Daddy

We were bored and it was hot out, so we took the boys down to the river to play in the water.  When we got there it was really crowded, so we didn't stay very long but here are a few pictures from our trip.

Weekend Fun

So we spent probably the entire weekend up at my parents house, so Wyatt could play in the sun and I could relax in the shade with Max.   It was a really good weekend, it would have been better if Shane didn't spend the entire weekend working up at Windell's, but atleast he got paid and I can't complain about him making extra money.
We finally started fixing up our backyard, so I went to Babies R Us and bought Wyatt a little water table to play with.  But since our backyard isn't done yet, we took it up to Ah-Ma (what Wyatt calls Grandma) and Papa's and he had a lot of fun playing with that.

Meanwhile,  I got to work on my tan alittle bit, and read some magazines in the wonderful sunshine and Max did what he does best.....Sleep.

I thoroughly enjoy sitting there and looking at both of my boys, and thinking about just how lucky I am.  I have two adorable, healthy boys that love me so much, that are going to grow up together and hopefully be best friends.  I couldn't be happier at this point in my life.  Yeah, I'm a little exhausted from being up at night with Max and then taking care of the two of them during the day without getting a chance to nap.  And Wyatt is definitely going through his terrible two's,  which only got worse when my full attention was taken away from him, due to me now having to take care of Max.   And my breastfeeding experience with Max has been way different and far more difficult than it was with Wyatt, but I still think I am the luckiest person in the world right now.  I can't imagine my life without either of my boys, and I am going to do the best I can to give them both my all when it comes to raising them and teaching them everything they need to know.
Anyways, sorry to go on a little tangent about how much I love my boys.   We had an awesome weekend in the sun, and I hope it stays sunny for awhile.  It just puts everyone in a better mood when the weather is nice.   Here's a few more pictures of Wyatt playing up at Papa's.

Little Baby Max

So things have been a little crazy around here during the past week.  Max Parker Mckenzie was born at 3:05 am on friday May 1st.  He was 7 pounds and 14 ounces and 20.5 inches long.  Labor went pretty good, besides me losing a lot of blood and almost blacking out about five times which was a little scary.  Max came out with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck once and he was a little blue, but he came out with his eyes open and it was amazing to hear his first cry.
We got discharged on Saturday afternoon, but Max's jaundice levels were a little high, so we had to bring him back to the hospital the next day to get them checked again.  That was a hellish experience because we sat in the waiting room at urgent care for over three hours before they finally pulled us into a room only to tell us that the levels weren't high enough to do anything about but we needed to have them checked again in 48 hours.
Then I had to drive all the way back to Mt Scott on Monday for his Mother-Baby appointment which went really good.  He had already gained weight and was up to 8 pounds and 1 ounce and after i fed him, she weighed him again and he had gained two more ounces.  So basically my little guy was already a cow.
The next day (Tuesday) I had to bring him into Rockwood to have his levels checked again.  I brought him by the pharmacy where i work so i could show him off.  Then we were off to the lab to have more blood drawn, which was another hellish experience, being that the guy who took his blood acted like he had never done that from an infant before.
Yesterday (Thursday), Max had his first photo shoot.  A girl I met on Craigslist came over and took a whole bunch of newborn pictures of him.  I can't wait to see how they turned out.  I'll post them later.  But here are a few pictures of new baby max.
